Government

The Arroyo Grande City Council consists of five members elected at-large on a non-partisan basis. Council members serve four-year overlapping terms. The mayor is elected directly and serves a two-year term. The City Council establishes City policies, approves ordinances and resolutions, makes land use decisions, approves agreements and contracts, and hears appeals on decisions made by City staff or advisory committees. In addition, the City Council also sits as the governing board of the Redevelopment Agency. Find out more about the City at www.arroyogrande.org.

Regular City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings are televised live and broadcast on Channel 20.

The City offers many youth and adult programs and sports activities. The City oversees 21 parks with 60 acres of developed parkland. There are acres of greenbelt throughout the City used for biking, hiking and horseback riding.
